The same RuPay card is operated by the indigenous payment gateway NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) present in India. India is the sixth country in the world to have its own payment gateway.

Card type:

If we talk about the type of card, then Visa and Master card are available in debit and credit cards but RuPay card is still issued only in the form of debit card. Now some banks have started issuing RuPay credit cards as well.

Processing Fee:

Visa and Master are based on foreign payment gateway, hence their processing fee is high, while Rupay card being indigenous payment gateway, its processing fee is low. For example, if a transaction with Rupay card takes Rs 2.50, then Visa, Master takes Rs 3.25 for the same transaction. Meaning it is less expensive to use a card with indigenous payment gateway.

International Recognition:

So far you can use Rupay card only in India, this card is not valid outside the country, the same is Visa Master International card and is valid in most countries so that you can use them outside the country as well.

Security:

Due to working on foreign payment gateways, your Visa and MasterCard data is shared internationally but the data of RuPay card remains in India, due to which Rupay card is considered to be the most secure in India.
