Hello everyone! According to the Indian Constitution, every Indian citizen has the right to vote. But for that you need a voter ID card. If you do not have a voter ID card, then you can not vote in India. Every Indian citizen over the age of 18 years is allowed to apply for a voter id card. In India, It was possible to apply for the ID card only before the elections. However, the Election Commission of India has now made it easy to apply for the voter card through online application process. Registration requirements to vote:
You can be enrolled as a voter if you are an Indian citizen.
18 years of age, when the first date of the year of amendment of voter list i.e. on 1st January.
Usually, there are residents of the constituency/voting area of the constituency where you want to be nominated.
Not eligible to be nominated as an elector.
If you meet the above criteria then download the Voter Helpline app to register online or go to nvsp.in.
Documents For New Voter ID card :
1.) Passport Size Photo.
2.) Age Declaration Form (Only For 21+ Age Person).
3.) Age Proof.
4.) Address Proof.
List of age certificates :
- Birth certificate issued by a city authority or district office of birth date and death or baptism certificate; or
- Birth certificate from the school (government / recognized) is last attended by the applicant or any other recognized educational institution; Or if a person is in Class 10 or more, then he should give a copy of the Mark Sheet of Class 10 if it includes birthdate as proof of date of birth; or
- Mark sheet of Class 8 if it has a date of birth; or
- Mark sheet of Class 5 if it has a date of birth; Or
- Indian passport; Or
- Pan Card; Or driving license; Or
- Aadhaar card issued by UIDAI
List of residence certificate
• Current pass book of bank/farmer/post office; Or
• Ration Magazine; Or
• Passport; Or
•Driving license; Or
• Income tax assessment order; Or
• Latest fare agreement; Or
• The latest water/telephone/electricity/gas connection bill for that address, either in the name of the applicant or the immediate relationship of his / her parents; Or
• Any post /letter/mail is given through the Indian Postal Department at the address of ordinary residence on the applicant’s name.
Voter Registration Status
Visit http://electoralsearch.in/ to see if you are registered to vote. If your name appears in the list, you are eligible to vote, otherwise, you have to register to vote. For voter registration, go to https://www.nvsp.in/ addition, you can use the Voter Helpline app to verify your name in the voter list or to register online.
How To Apply Online Voter ID Card:
Step 1: First of all you will visit the Indian Election Commission’s official website at https://www.nvsp.in, after which you will see appearing for online registration of new voter / due to shifting from AC.
Step 2:
Now you will open Form 6 in which you have to fill in the details as mentioned.
- Select your language at Select Language.
- Select your state (state) on the State section.
- Select your district (district) on the district section.
- Select your legislative assembly or parliamentary constituency on this option.
- If you are making a voter card the First Time then select As A First Time Voter and if your residence has been shifted from one place to another, then select from the other constituency.
Step 3:
Now you fill the details according to Mandatory Particulars.
- Wrote his name on the left side in English and written his name on the right side in Hindi.
- If you have a surname then written in Hindi and English.
- Name your father / mother / husband / wife anybody.
- Now put the surname of the name you wrote above here.
- In the type of relation, select what you have on the name of the ones you mentioned above. If you had entered Dad’s name then select father. select
- If you want to add your age here, then by the 1st January of this year, how much is your age, or your lower birth date?
- Please select your gender on Gender of Applicant.
Step 4:
Current address where applicant is ordinarily resident option, fill the information of the place you are currently residing.
- House No Left English and Right Side Written in Hindi
- Street / area / locality left in English and right side in Hindi.
- Write your Town / village both in English and Hindi.
- Name the post office in English and Hindi.
- Enter the Pin Code of the place you live in.
- State Select
- Select the district.
Step 5:
Enter your permanent address on the permanent address of the applicant. On this option, you will fill the information as mentioned above. If your address is same, then tick on Same as above.
Step 6:
If you have any disability then tick and if not, then do not tick anybody.
- If you have an email then do not leave it.
- Enter your mobile number
- Upload your passport size photo.
- Upload your Age Proof document and select type.
- Upload the Address Proof document and type selected.
Step 7:
- Write your Town / Village name.
- Select your state
- Select your district.
- Put your date of birth on the date option.
- If your name is not in the voter list, then tick here, if it is, then ticks the correct option.
- Enter the name of the district on the place.
- Put today’s date in Date.
- Put the captcha code here.
- Finally, after checking all the details, click on submit.
Now your request has reached the election commission, now they will verify by posting it on your address by post.
