Wait for a Month?

After registering the complaint on the bank’s complaint cell, toll free number and on the official website of the bank, you will have to wait for at least 30 days i.e., for 1 month. By the way, your complaint will be resolved within a month and if even after thirty days your complaint is not resolved by the bank or you are not satisfied with the resolution done by the bank, you can contact the Bank Ombudsman. What is Bank Ombudsman or Banking Ombudsman?

The Banking Ombudsman is an institution set up by the RBI to hear and resolve banking complaints of the general public in India. The Banking Ombudsman is basically created by the Reserve Bank of India to look after the complaints related to banking. A senior officer or Ombudsman is appointed by the RBI, who resolves all the complaints of the customers. This includes all types of banks including public sector banks, private banks, rural banks as well as cooperative banks.

You do not have to pay any fee for filing a complaint with the Banking Ombudsman. After registering the complaint here, you can get the solution of your problem within 30 days. Along with this, by taking appropriate action against the bank or bank employee, you will get your rights which you are entitled to.

How effective is the Banking Ombudsman?

As of the year 2015, this body covers almost all types of complaints for banking services. This body received 79,266 complaints in the year 2009-2010 of which about 94% were resolved and only 5-6% complaints remained pending for more than a quarter of a year. At present there are 15 Banking Ombudsman in India. How To Make An Online Complaint to Banking Ombudsman

  • First of all, you have to visit the official website of Reserve Bank of India https://cms.rbi.org.in/.
  • Now the home page will open in front of you, here you have to click on the option of File a Complaint.
  • Now an application form will open in front of you, in which you will be asked to upload the pdf file of the asked information such as account number, mail id, name of the complainant, address and complaint.
  • After filling all the information correctly, at last you have to click on submit.
  • Once submitted, your complaint will reach the Banking Ombudsman. With this, your problem will be solved in about 15 days.
